.Glare

25 Jan 2012

This is a school project where we had to make a short for post-production training purposes.
Jeroen Van Hoorebeke and I worked together to make a small animation about a crab facing dangers in the deepsea.
This small animation was a lot of work :U from desiging the story and surroundings to making everything, animations, rigs, etc.
It was a very instructive project, both mentally and physically. You learn to put your emotions aside and work as a professional. Most of it was self study with the wise internet as a teacher. You learn to put your pride asside and focus on productivity.
Overall it was a fun time with unforgettable moments.
The short video sadly can't be displayed due to music copyright infringements.

Creature Design

Dec 2011

So I signed up for Schoolism's Creature design course by Anthony Jones.
It was really nice to get one on one advice and being able to listen to all the other students their one on one crits.
Learned a ton on many more bases than just drawing and designing!

Here are the results nicely combined in one post :)

Takdo Abate

9 Aug 2011

It's a school assignment where our teachers came up with a concept world/story for which everybody had to make a playable character. From inventing its purpose, to designing, sculpting, etc., untill rigging, and animations.

The story goes like this:
London has had some serious damage, floods, pollution, etc. The year is 2111 and survivors are looking for fresh air since the air on the surface is very unhealthy. Some 'airbubbles' are still left in the underground network who have been isolated by the flood. They need these places to grow plants and food, to become self-sufficient, and fill tanks with the clean air the plants make. Takdo is the guy looking for those new areas, the Explorer.

Specs:
-3DsMax, Zbrush, Photoshop
-less than 15k tris
-4 4048x4048 maps:
-Diff+opac, spec, gloss, normals
-Biped-rig
-skinned
-Shaded with Xoliul-Shader 1.5
(Laurens Corijn shader)

Sionn Scotach

6 June 2011

This was a school project where we had to make a cartoony character for a small animation from the ground up.
From ideation to concept, modelsheet and all the way to a highpoly model, custom rig and skinning.

Sionn scotach is a Scottish goose herder from the highlands, he looks peaceful, but has a very aggressive nature.
