de Prinsenmolen

02 Nov 2014

Every now and again I take my bike and scout the area for interesting spots.

Last time, I fell upon this old windmill with the cute house next to it. It was love at first sight. So I immediately made a sketch.
The next week I came back to make a colour study with my paints. I discovered the scene I wanted was too hard for my skill set at the moment, so I will have to come back later to finish it.

Many kind people approached me and talked about the mills history. What an enjoyable day. I hope I made theirs just as good.

ArtCamp Still life

03 Oct 2013

Here is part 3 of the assignments for Noah's art camp as promised :)
Was gonna post this a week ago but I've been busy starting up a facebook artpage (link)

Go on and like it :) it opens in a new tab, no worries.

Things I learned the most:
-how to determine local diffuse colours without lighting
-Size relations between diff objects.
-Negative space.
-Subtle gradients.
-Carrots degrade REALLY fast! It turned black after one night D:

The order goes from recent to old pieces by me, from full still lifes to faster studies
Not as interesting as other stuff but learnfull (is that even a word?)

Cheers

ArtCamp Imagination

13 Sept 2013

Here is part 2 of the assignments for Noah's art camp. Hope you enjoy them :)

Normally updates should follow up faster now, had delay due to moving and other personal stuff.

Things I learned the most:
-The importance of edges, again and how to see and use them in your advantage
-Colour palette restriction.
-Take it easy, subdivide paintings in easy to follow steps to keep from being overwhelmed by the whole
-Warm-up makes a huge difference.

The order goes from recent to old pieces by me, followed by recent to old master studies.
Difference between master studies and own work can also be found in the name of the file.
(but you'll prolly see the diff :P )

Cheers
